A free newsletter with the marketing ideas you need

The best marketing ideas come from marketers who live it.

That’s what this newsletter delivers.

The Marketing Millennials is a look inside what’s working right now for other marketers. No theory. No fluff. Just real insights and ideas you can actually use—from marketers who’ve been there, done that, and are sharing the playbook.

Every newsletter is written by Daniel Murray, a marketer obsessed with what goes into great marketing. Expect fresh takes, hot topics, and the kind of stuff you’ll want to steal for your next campaign.

Because marketing shouldn’t feel like guesswork. And you shouldn’t have to dig for the good stuff.

Hey {{first_name|there}},

If you're reading this on Thursday… you've got 2 days.

Because within 2 WEEKS of a Halloween content trend showing up on TikTok… Subway Surfers (yes, the mobile game) had already dressed up their own team for it.

But the more you wait on a trend, the faster it dies.

Why 1.1M+ readers open this AI newsletter every day

From ML engineers to founders, 1.1M+ readers use TLDR AI to spot new tools and research before they go mainstream. One free email, every morning.

🎃 1) the one to film this weekend

Basically… a content trend is "a recipe" hundreds of creators copy, with a part you keep the same and a part you make yours.

Like this one Subway Surfers posted this month:

TikTok video by @subwaysurfers

It:

  • starts with two of their team in plain clothes under "Halloween costume loading…"

  • loads the hats

  • then the outfits, the shoes and the accessories

  • and ends with them dressed as the game's two main characters

With just a tripod.

You can just stand your team in front of the shelf… put "Halloween costume loading…" on screen… and load them up as your product, your mascot or your best-seller.

Simple. Seasonal. Still early.

📉 2) the one you already missed

Now imagine how confused you'd be… if you opened TikTok a couple of weeks ago… and saw a CAT in a wizard hat typing on every other video.

On October 13th, 204 creators posted it in one day.

Another 100 the day after.

And just like that… by the 19th, it was down to 2.

Wizard cat typing at a computer, Fading: creators posting per day Oct 11-19 (7, 72, 204, 100, 42, 12, 10, 2, 2), data from Virlo

Crickets.

So you save it… you tell yourself you'll film it this weekend. You don't film it this weekend.

Trends don't wait.

So we're literally HANDING you the Claude setup that tells you if you're early or late on every trend… for free.

📈 3) the one that climbed for two months

"Isn't that trend too old to film?" That's such a silly question that everyone always asks… myself included.

Two months in, "The Night We Met" trend was still climbing… 300 creators posted it from October 15th to 21st, up from 205 the week before.

Let me show you what that looks like for an interior designer.

The empty rental. The slowed-down song. The apartment she made.

Swap in your own before and after… and you can film it on your phone this afternoon.

Old is not the same as late.

But this week, Virlo already marks it as Fading.

So before you film, check one number: how many creators posted it this week, vs last week.

🛠️ 4) steal it: ask Claude every Monday

Here's the easiest way to check the count. (The kind of check that takes one message.)

  1. connect Claude to Virlo (a database of 18M+ viral videos)

  2. add the free trends skill

  3. paste this every Monday

Use Virlo's get_content_trends to pull this week's live
content trends for my kind of business ([b2b_saas /
consumer_brand / local_business / clinic_healthcare]),
brand-safe only.

For each one, give me:
1. Its name and stage, plus creators this week vs last week
2. Early or late: Fresh or Rising = early, Peaking = post
   now, Fading = late
3. What to keep the same, and what to make mine
4. Whether it fits [what I sell, one line]
5. 2 example video links

Rank them by creators this week. Then write my version of
the best early one as a shot list I can film on my phone.

And you don't even need to open TikTok to run it.

📡 5) or just open the list

"Can't I just see the list without setting up Claude?"

Well… the answer is… yeah, you can.

It's a tab… called "Trends to copy"… inside Virlo, where our team approves every content trend before it goes live.

Each one comes with… the stage (early or late)… the part you keep the same… the part you make yours… and who it works for.

Trends to copy in Virlo, one early, two late: Halloween costume loading (Rising, 49 vs 6), The Night We Met (Fading, 57 vs 270), Wizard cat (Fading, 6 vs 57)

And if you can't pick, write "a trend my brand can do" in Copilot (the chat inside the app), and it picks the content trends that fit your brand.

So you can either check the count on Monday… and film it while it's still climbing… or wait for it to hit your For You page… and post it the week it dies.

Your move.
