Hey {{first_name|there}},

"Let me show you" opened more outlier videos this month than any other line.

When we counted the spoken hooks across the outlier videos we analyzed over the past month, the same few words kept coming back.

An HVAC tech, a bakery, a mortgage broker, a phone shop… all opening with them.

Here are the 5 families, the videos, and a fill-in for each. 👇

1) "let me show you…"

What it is: you open by promising to show them, right now, on camera. 41 different creators opened with some version of it ("let me show you", "I'm gonna show you", "show you how to").

❝

"Bro said HVAC companies are scamming him. Let me show you what's actually happening here."

Hook used in this video (spoken)

His angle: an HVAC tech green-screens over another guy's TikTok of a portable AC plugged into a power strip… then walks through why it'll cost him more on his power bill.

TikTok video by @iski_bakery

🎥 @iski_bakery · 1.28M views · 36.8K followers · ▶ Watch video

❝

"This is Japanese coffee jelly, and I'm gonna show you guys how I dress it up."

Hook used in this video (spoken)

Her angle: two glasses of coffee jelly held up to the camera… then the cream pour and two big dollops of whipped cream, up close.

Why it works: "let me show you" is a promise with the proof attached.

So the second they hear it, they know the payoff is inside this video… and leaving means missing it.

Then the HVAC tech puts a villain in front of it ("HVAC companies are scamming him"), so you stay just to see who's right.

Promise to show them, and they'll stay to see it.

Steal it:

[the thing people are arguing about / the thing
you made]. Let me show you [what's actually
happening / how I do it].

Test it today: open your next video on the thing you'd normally explain, say "let me show you", and show it.

2) "did you know that if you…"

What it is: you ask "did you know", hand them one fact they don't have yet, then add a "that if you [do X]" that makes it something they can try today. 30 creators opened with it.

❝

"Did you know that if you take instant coffee, sugar, hot water, pinch of salt, splash of vanilla, mix it until it's thick and fluffy…"

Hook used in this video (spoken)

Their angle: a kitchen brand's own account. One ingredient per cut, then the taste test… and the brand name is never said. It's on the apron and the frother.

TikTok video by @itslilygonzalez

🎥 @itslilygonzalez · 705K views · 12.5K followers · ▶ Watch video

❝

"Did you know you can take the Potomac River water taxi to explore Maryland and Virginia?"

Hook used in this video (spoken)

Her angle: she asks it over the water taxi, with "POV: you just found the perfect DMV day trip itinerary" on screen… then the whole day in one-second shots, ending on "click on the location tag below".

Why it works: "did you know" makes them feel one fact behind… and nobody likes being behind.

Then the "if you" part turns the fact into something they can do tonight, so they save it to try later.

And the brand rides along with the fact, which is why Typhur never has to say its own name.

Hand them one fact they can use tonight, and your product comes with it.

Steal it:

Did you know that if you [simple thing you do
with your product], [the surprising result]?

Test it today: turn your product's best little trick into one "did you know" and film only the steps.

3) "if you run an…"

What it is: you name your exact viewer in the first few words, then hit them with something about their thing. 19 creators opened with "if you're a", "if you have" or "if you run".

❝

"If you run an Android, did you know Google installed an app on your phone to scan your pictures for sensitive content?"

Hook used in this video (spoken)

His angle: a phone builder in sunglasses talks over a screenshot of the news story… then shows you where to find the app in your own settings.

Why it works: "if you run an Android" sorts the whole feed in one line.

Everyone with an Android hears their name… and everyone else scrolls past, which costs him nothing because they were never buying his phones.

Then he stacks a "did you know" right behind it, so two hooks land before the five-second mark.

And the payoff is something they can check on their own phone, so they watch to the end with their settings open.

Name your buyer first, and the right people stop.

Steal it:

If you [use / run / own] [the thing your buyer
has], did you know [the surprising thing about
it]?

Test it today: rewrite your next hook so the first five words name your buyer.

4) "for the first time…"

What it is: you film a first try, someone meeting your product (or a place, or an app) for the very first time. 16 creators used it.

❝

"We're here at the viral spot in Dallas, Texas. Wing spot, trying out their food for the very first time."

Hook used in this video (spoken)

His angle: he flashes the TikTok comment that sent him there, walks up to a strip-mall wing spot, opens the box… and tastes it with his friend.

TikTok video by @diegobullrun

🎥 @diegobullrun · 1.73M views · 639 followers · ▶ Watch video

❝

"How it feels opening trading view for the first time"

Hook used in this video (on screen)

His angle: no talking. He opens TradingView, the chart loads… and it hard-cuts to the cockpit of a plane.

Why it works: a first time can only happen once, so the reaction reads honest.

And people trust a reaction more than any pitch you could write.

The wing spot got a free review from a guy a commenter sent there… and the TradingView joke makes the app look BIG, which is a sell all on its own.

Let someone meet your product for the first time, on camera.

Steal it:

[Trying / opening / using] [your product]
for the first time
+ their honest reaction, no script

Test it today: hand your product to someone who's never used it and film their first 10 seconds.

5) "this is how you…"

What it is: you say the outcome and promise the method in the same breath. 12 creators opened with it.

TikTok video by @collegewithrose

🎥 @collegewithrose · 340K views · 2.8K followers · ▶ Watch video

❝

"This is how you can use Gizmo to study for your exams."

Hook used in this video (spoken)

Her angle: she answers a comment that asked for it, then screen-records the study app on her iPad, step by step.

Why it works: "this is how you" skips the warm-up and goes straight to the method… so it sounds like the answer.

The student turned one comment into a step-by-step walkthrough of an app, which is a ready-made brief for any software brand.

Say the outcome first, then show the steps.

Steal it:

This is how you [outcome they want]
[when / even if] [the obstacle they think
stops them].

Test it today: answer your most-asked comment with a video that starts "this is how you…" and walks the steps.

turn one family into 10 hooks with Claude

Pick the family that fits your product, then paste this into Claude and fill in the brackets:

Here are 5 hook families that many different
creators reused on TikTok over the past month:

1. "Let me show you..." / "I'm gonna show you..."
2. "Did you know that if you [do X], [result]?"
3. "If you [run / have / are] [X], ..."
4. "[Trying / opening] [X] for the first time"
5. "This is how you [outcome] [when / even if
   obstacle]"

My niche: [my niche, in one line]
My product: [what I sell]
My buyer: [who buys it]

Use family [number]. Write 10 hooks for my niche
in that family, each under 15 words, each one I
could say out loud on camera. Then tell me which
3 to film first and why.

All five came out of the spoken hooks in Virlo's outlier videos (18M+ videos and counting)… and your niche's own versions are sitting there too.
